The challenge was to create a tile showroom that felt curated rather than overwhelming space inviting collaboration and creativity while showcasing tiles in diverse applications. Our goal was to design a sophisticated showroom with the ambiance of an art gallery, where materials could be experienced rather than just displayed.
A striking monochromatic palette defines the space from the moment you enter. Large-format black tiles at the entrance contrast sharply with the bright white studio beyond, setting a refined tone fitting for the New York City design district. The staircase is at the entrance, providing seamless access to the lower level.
The showroom is divided into two zones: the upper level, the main studio and gallery for exhibitions and events, and the lower level, which houses offices, workspaces, and additional tile storage.
At the heart of the main floor, two circular podiums serve as sculptural focal points clad in striking glazed green and blue tiles. These platforms double as seating areas for discussions and lectures, illuminated by overhead ring lights. Along the studio’s edges, vignettes showcase various tile applications, leading visitors to a working area and kitchenette, where a playful neon sign adds a final touch.
On this project, I collaborated on the concept design and layout and oversaw the selection of finishes and furniture, ensuring a cohesive and immersive experience that balances functionality with aesthetic sophistication.
